Vital equipment amnesty launched by Devon County Council

Message from Devon County Council

Can you help? Vital equipment amnesty launched by Devon County Council

Devon is experiencing a shortage of equipment that allows vulnerable people to live independently and Devon County Council has launched an equipment amnesty to help alleviate the shortage. Parish councils are being asked to help circulate the message in their communities that anyone with equipment that is no longer needed can arrange to have it collected free of charge, for re-use.

Supply chain pressures are causing the shortage; continued high levels of coronavirus cases world-wide have caused disruption to supplies as shipping routes have been under pressure. Manufacturing factories have also been working on reduced capacity, increasing supplier lead-in times.

As a result, community equipment stocks in Devon are running low; Devon County Council and NHS Devon CCG are taking early action to mitigate the risk of running out of stock by launching the equipment amnesty.

Equipment that is needed includes four-wheeled walking frames, toileting equipment, hospital beds, clinical mattresses, pressure cushions and hoists. Staff of Millbrook Healthcare Ltd will collect the equipment from properties free of charge between Monday 9 and Monday 30 August. To arrange a collection, people should call 03301248214.
