Neighbourhood Plan review and update
The current Neighbourhood Plan is a joint Plan covering the parishes of West Hill and Ottery St Mary and was formally "made" in July 2018 following a referendum of residents in both parishes. The existing joint Neighbourhood Plan will remain in force across both areas until such time as it is replaced by a new Plan in either parish.
Since the original Plan was made, West Hill has become a separate parish with its own Parish Council and in December 2023, following a consultation with residents, East Devon District Council granted an application for West Hill to be designated as a new Neighbourhood Area. This was the necessary first step in the lengthy journey towards a new Neighbourhood Plan for West Hill.
A Neighbourhood Plan belongs to residents and should give our community a say in the future development of our parish. It must also conform with the corresponding Local Plan, and East Devon District Council is in the process of drafting a new Local Plan for our area.
