I've found a dead bird - What should I do?

Suspected bird flu in East Devon

Do you know what to do if you found a dead bird?  Devon has seen a recent increase in the number of birds, of different breeds, with bird flu.

As a reminder, there was an incident involving a sick bird on Sidmouth beach recently and there was some uncertainty on who could help.

The current guidance is to not touch dead or visibly sick birds (or allow dogs near them).

You can make a report on the EDDC website here: Report a dead animal - Animal details

Any reports of sick or dead birds are dealt with quickly, and often on the same day. The EDDC team are fully trained and equipped with the correct PPE to deal with suspected cases of bird flu.
