East Devon Local Plan – Update

East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) review of the Local Plan has reached a significant stage.

EDDC’s Strategic Planning Committee meetings scheduled for September will consider site allocations for future housing development in towns and villages, including West Hill.   However, it is not expected that the meetings will make decisions on sites.

WHPC expects the Draft Local Plan to be published for public consultation in Mid-October.  Cllrs will consult with the community to formulate a response to the consultation.  A community drop-in session has been arranged for residents and Cllrs to discuss the proposals.

  • Fri 18th November 3.45pm – 8.00pm at the Village Hall

Of the many sites put forward by landowners for consideration, EDDC have stated a preference for only 2 of the sites:  WH4 and WH6 north of Eastfield which would provide 51 houses.  A 2nd preference is site WH1 at Westhayes (6 Houses). See map below.

The meetings are livestreamed for public viewing during the meeting or at a later date.

The West Hill Parish Council meeting on 6th September will consider the Council’s response and attendance at the 9th September EDDC Committee meeting.
