Community Buildings Fund taking new applications

Planning a community building project? Why not apply for financial help from East Devon’s Community Buildings Fund

Applications now open to apply for funding

East Devon District Council is urging rural local communities who are planning capital building projects or refurbishments to apply for financial help from its successful Community Buildings Fund.

The Community Building Fund is an East Devon District Council grants scheme, which helps fund projects for village halls, community buildings and community shops by offering grants of anything up to £5,000. Village halls, community buildings and community shops in East Devon’s villages and rural areas are eligible (those within an area covered by a town council are not eligible).

The scheme’s purpose is to help rural community buildings and community shops all around East Devon with funding for projects such as new or improved toilet facilities, kitchen facilities, roof repairs, heating and new door fixtures.

Closing dates for applications are Friday 29 June 2018 at 5pm and Friday 11 January 2019 at 5pm (please bear in mind that there is only limited funding available so if all is granted in June there will be no funding available in January).

Examples of some previously funded projects:
• Newton Poppleford Pavilion received £5,000 towards an extension and new kitchen.
• Upton Pyne and Cowley Village Hall received £2,741 towards much needed improvements to their kitchen.
• Peek Hall at Combpyne Rousdon received £1,675 towards repairing the floor in the main hall.
• Brampford Speke Village Hall received £1,722 towards improving the accessibility of the hall for people with mobility issues and people with pushchairs.
