PIP application at West Hayes refused
As residents will be aware, Permission in Principle was sought for the erection of 5 dwellings and associated parking on land adjoining West Hayes, Eastfield. A number of residents attended a Parish Council meeting on 16th January 2024 to express their concerns and opposition to the proposal. WHPC Councillors voted to strongly object to it.
The decision has been made by EDDC and Permission in Principle has been refused. The Officer's delegated report can be viewed under the Documents tab on the planning portal - click here.
In summary, the report concludes:
The LPA shares concerns expressed by third parties, the Parish Council and the Local Ward Member
with regards to the principle of development and impacts of the development on existing trees,
character and appearance of the area and the integrity of the Pebblebed Heaths. The application fails
to accord with key strategies and policies of the East Devon Local Plan, The Ottery St Mary
Neighbourhood Plan and the overarching aims and objectives of the NPPF. In the absence of any
demonstrable benefits, the application considered unacceptable and recommended for refusal.
